Visiting Canberra

Canberra is a great place to visit, and Greenhills is only a short drive from many of Canberra’s wonderful attractions.

Casuarina Sands

Within walking distance (1.5km), the Sands is a great little river beach on the Cotter River; have a swim, BBQ or stroll to the historic Pump Station. This is also a very popular area for canoeing. More Info

Cotter Avenue

3.6km down the road is the new Cotter Dam and recreational reserve, called the Cotter Avenue, with BBQ and picnic parks, river and bush walks, walks up to the Dam’s public viewing platform plus camping spots along the Cotter River. More Info

Mt Stromlo Observatory

Just over a 6km drive up the road towards Canberra is Mt Stromlo Observatory; this facility has great packages for school groups as well as public night viewings.
A new visitor’s centre is opening soon. More Info

Stromlo Forest Park

Not far from the Observatory is a world-class, multi-use, recreational sporting facility available to the public, with criterium cycling circuit, grass cross country running rack, equestrian tracks and mountain bike tracks to suit any level of rider. Stromlo Forest Park also has various trails suitable for runners and walkers keen on exploring the Canberra countryside. More Info
